 Hospice Cup XXVI Regatta Press Boat Invitation
September 8, 2007Annapolis, MD

 

[Annapolis, MD] On September 8, 2006, the Hospice Cup – America's largest charity regatta – will hold it’s 26th annual regatta featuring 100 of the best sailors on the Chesapeake Bay. Hospice Cup, Inc. invites the media to cover the race from the official press boat or the opportunity to participate as a crew member on one of the participating boats.

 

The race will take place off the mouth of the Severn River, followed by the Grand Shore Party at the Atria Manresa in Annapolis, Maryland. The Hospice Cup, which began in 1982, has helped to raise over $7 million for Hospice support programs in communities around Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC.

 

WHEN: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2006

               RACE START: 11:00 AM

PRESS BOAT DEPARTURE: 10:30 AM

from the Annapolis Yacht Club on the Eastport side of the Spa Creek Bridge by the floating docks in the boat launch area. Parking is available across the street at the AYC Annex Parking lot.

WHO:

The 2007 participating hospices which include: Hospice of the Chesapeake, Capital Hospice, Montgomery Hospice, Calvert Hospice and Community Hospices, must meet the standards of the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

 

The Hospice Cup is sanctioned by the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association (CBYRA) and counts for CBYRA season-long High Point competition. Hospice Cup, Inc. is a non-profit, all volunteer organization, chartered under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia for the purposes of conducting a benefit yacht race and related events. Administrative and operational activities connected with the event are carried out entirely by volunteers. Net proceeds are disbursed to the participating hospices on a pro-rated basis.
